Dr. Omar Yousuf

As part of a family full of dentists and physicians, the person Dr. Yousuf admires most is his father, who made his higher education possible. Dr. Yousuf knew he found his perfect profession in dentistry while shadowing a dentist during college. In the years that he has served patients, he has enjoyed the modern technology of digital impressions and x-rays, as well as using implants to replace teeth for people of nearly all ages. Rather than treating single problems, he believes in working with his patients to come up with entire goals and solutions for oral health, which produce much better long-term results. His favorite part of dentistry? “Helping people, and making a positive impact on how they look at themselves.”

If you could only give one piece of advice to your patients about their oral health, what would it be?

“Take your oral health seriously. It affects your entire body; not just your teeth.”

In the years that you’ve been practicing dentistry, what is one of the most significant changes you have seen in the industry?

“The modern technology surrounding digital impressions and x-rays is amazing, as well as the increased use of implants. We can use implants to replace any type of tooth, stabilize dentures, and more. People as young as 16 or 18 years old can now have implants if they lost a tooth in a sports accident.“

The best part of being a dentist is

"helping people and making an impact on how they view themselves, especially when they know that all of their efforts of taking care of themselves have made a positive difference as well."

Who is a person whom you admire greatly, either historical or present-day?

“My dad. He made it possible for me to go to school and study dentistry.“

One of the greatest lessons I learned from my childhood was

“the importance of hard work and dedication.“

I knew I wanted to be a dentist when

“I was in college and shadowed a dentist who had been practicing for a number of years. I loved what I saw.“

When I’m not at the dental office, you can usually find me

“at home or at the park with my family.“
